Heathcote – What a little gem!

Heathcote was the start of our trip around country Victoria and how happy we were rocking up at the caravan park only to find that Friday night was free pizza night!

Our first impression was good. Beautiful clean park and well kept. We love the old park – like we love old houses. You can tell when something has good memories/vibes attached to it! The parks facilities were clean and well maintained and there was even a off leach (small) area for the dogs which Kobi and Frankie loved (not sure why more parks don’t have this?) The owners were so lovely and chatty – it was a great first experience for the start of the trip. And also the water pressure was so good in the shower – always a plus when caravaning/camping.

The park was also a close walk to the main street and playground (which the boys of course loved). The playground was wine themed which goes in line with the wine region. The Gaffernys bakery was honestly the best bakery we have ever been too. The shepherds pie was mouth watering and the cakes – oh my- dont get me started. We would of loved to have tried The Juniper Lounge which looked nice but with COVID restrictions still on, it was closed.

We did a 4WD (which was fun in itself – probably wouldn’t attempt this in a 2WD vechicle) out to the Viewing Rock lookout which was nice event thou the lookout wasn’t spectacular. Would of loved to have done the devils cave walk but was a bit hard underfoot with the boys and dogs.

On the drive back from the Viewing rock we stopped at the Pink Cliff’s….. You know those places that look ok on Google images or the Vic parks site but in real life its fantastic? well, this is one of those place. We loved it, especially Eddie. It was like we were on a different planet. You could set up a picnic or just go for a short stroll to enjoy yourself (and it was also dog friendly – winning!)

We also managed to fit in a visit to the Munari Winery – which was beautiful. We met the wine dog Panther and the wine was delicious. We didnt stay long but Eddie did get to have a little run around in the beautiful garden.

Our trip ended with free pancakes on the Sunday! (seriously, loved this park!) and a drive to the next stop – MOUNT BEAUTY. Which was about a 3 hour drive
